The Client
Stylus Studio is a product developed by Progress Software’s XML Business group. Based in Bedford, MA, the XML Business group develops and markets XML tools and components. First released in 1999, Stylus Studio offers a complete XML development environment.

The Challenge
Initially, Stylus Studios’ development group ran their own manual tests before the product release. That process soon became unmanageable. The lack of any existing test plans or procedures became a major stumbling block to test automation.

The qaOptimized Solution
qaSignature developed an optimized testing solution against daily builds that was successfully executed 247 times in one calendar year. Round-robin principles were incorporated to improve testing efficiency, while bug tests were created and optimized for a Regression Bugs suite that included approximately 1,200 P0 and P1 bugs.

The Results

• In the nine-month project cycle, Stylus Studios completed active release testing for 19 releases, compared with two releases during the prior nine-month span
• Since then, Stylus Studios has relied on qaOptimization testing from qaSignature with almost no manual testing
