The Client
Sonic Software, a division of Progress Software, is an integration middleware software company. Sonic builds enterprise infrastructure that integrates applications and business processes. Their Sonic Bridges product is a JMS/JCA adapter that connects SonicMQ messaging software with various application servers such as BEA WebLogic, IBM MQSeries/WebSphere, and Tibco Enterprise along with FTP and e-mail.

The Challenge
Because the Sonic Bridges product has no front end or back end, the client felt that testing would be impossible to automate. Earlier attempts to automate the process had failed. Now they were using seven engineers to perform manual testing.

The qaOptimization® Solution
Despite Sonic’s skepticism, qaSignature developed a test infrastructure, test harness, testware, and an optimized reporting solution.

The Results
  • An 8-hour full regression test replaced the previous cycle of three weeks’ manual testing with 7 engineers (105 labor-days)
  • A projected savings of more than $750,000
