Mr. Gates finally got my message!
I am happy to report that kids are back to school and a first bug already visited our house! Both, Danny and George have runny noses. It must be New England. If someone has a recipe on how to fight this first bug - I am all ears!
Just follow this link to send your ideas!
I will happily trade that anti-bug recipe for my recipe on how to fight software bugs for your team. And let me tell you, if guys like Bill Gates started taking this anti-bug procedure as a common practice, it will help you too.
I was referred recently by my friend and client Ken Smith of Digiticians (Ken, thank you again!) to an article from the Wall Street Journal (Friday, 9/23/05) – "Battling Google, Microsoft Changes How It Builds Software." Many of you have seen it. If you would like to see the full version, just drop me a line and I will send it to you.
In a gist, the number of bugs and inability to fully test the core of Windows automatically finally caught up with even Bill Gates, and now it starts biting him in the … you know.
Bill realizes that Not Automating Testing = Competition Beating you Up.
At last, Microsoft turned to automation testing! Looks like Mr. Gates finally got my message.
Here is my "secret recipe" for the rest of us wondering how to bring software to the market in half the time and with fewer bugs:
- Have automation in place the minute you develop the first line of code
- Run the entire automation suite daily
- The minute the bug is found and fixed - regress your application again
- The minute the new feature is implemented, ad a new module to your automation suite
- Never stop running and updating your automation!
If you would like to find out more on how to avoid being bitten by software bugs, please follow this link to qaSignature’s white paper.
If you are nervous that competition is beating you up and feel like you can use help to get your automation off the ground, as always: Don’t get mad!
